I saw the recent Anglo Saxon hoard here, as well as an exhibit in the past of Ootzi and some others. All are excellently described, with enough history and description so I feel like I really learned a whole lot. I am not a member but should become one to get in at discounted rates!

Got to like this. Interesting changing exhibitions. I can still hear the National geographic theme music in my mind.

We went to see the Anglo Saxon hoard which is one of the revolving exhibits at the Nat Geo museum. The space is pretty small but the exhibit was very well laid out - both with fascinating objects discovered (only 3% of the actual find was on display) and the different interactive media used to share information. There was even a small area for kids where they could use metal detectors and test the weight of a sword.

The special exhibit about the gold find in central England was very engaging (featured in a recent issue). The rest of the museum was just okay. There was a very fun hand-on exhibit for kids, but not mush else. Still worth a visit for an hour or two.
