Stumbled upon this bistro during a recent trip to DC. Stopped in for lunch and would highly recommend. The wine has a wide selection from creative salads, French standards and an excellent assortment of fish. I would highly recommend the trout - it was prepared perfectly and accompanied by green beans and potatoes. Great rinse selection.

Thank L D

Character and ambiance in the shadow of the Capital. Beautifully decorated nooks and cranny's gives you a feel that you've stepped into a small bistro in Paris. Then there's the food! We decided to be a bit adventurous and asked if the Chef's Tasting was available (you should too!!!). Five courses, selected by the Chef that may or may not be on the menu (no worries, if you're alergic or simply don't like a category like fish, say so). You and the waiter are surprised at each turn. Combine it with a wine pairing, and it makes an unbelievably enjoyable experience. Every course was exceptionally delicious. Not inexpensive (menu ordering is probably more economical) but the best rarely is. If you like french, you'll love Bistro Cacao!

Bistro Cacao is a unique place to have a memorable dinner. It is very intimate and you feel like you have your own table in a private setting. The food is original and excellent. Service is attentive, not too obsequious but helpful and knowledgeable. This place is great for a special occasion

All 3 of us agreed we had a really good meal here. Classic French sauces, well prepared fish, delicious dessert. The ambiance is slightly bordello-like, and the place a bit worn, but good service and overall good experience.

Bistro appears to be more a dinner place with the enticing boudoir-like ambiance. Nonetheless, the food was very good and the salad was nice and filling!

After days of bingeing on mexican food and meats we had a nice fresh salad at Bistro Cacao. It was everything I want in a salad -- a good portion of protein, dressing which is not overpowering, and nice "crunchy" fresh greens.

Would definitely be back when we're in DC
