Description: Zentan is your DC destination for Modern Pan Asian Cuisine. Our ambiance is perfect for social events, dates, meetings and celebrations and is rivaled only by our chef inspired, seasonal cuisine and handcrafted cocktails. Our sushi is sustainable, flown in fresh and crafted into cold plates and maki’s you won’t find anywhere else. Iffy about raw food? Not a problem! Our extensive selection of Modern Pan Asian cold and hot plates are sure to satisfy any pallet. Each dish is served from the kitchen as soon as it’s prepared; just think Asian Tapas! Here are a few dishes to whet your appetite: Myazaki Beef Hot Rock (cook it yourself, japanese river rock) Peking Chicken (bao buns, black garlic hoisin, cucumber) Maguro Crudo (goat cheese, fuji apples, pumpkin seed oil) Shagalicious (crab salad, cucumber, miazaki beef, tempura ebi, crispy leek)

Sushi was varied, exotic, and delectable. Service was inattentive, slow, and peculiarly variable. In a word, our waitress was uninterested and seemed like she would rather have been elsewhere. No mention of specials to us, but were given to an adjacent table. After an extraordinary wait for a glass of wine, (we asked a passing server to check on it because our waitress had vanished), she returned to be as chilly as the wine. When we asked for some more wasabi, the proffered ''extra"
was about a third the size of the too small original measure. Wasabi was strangely granular but still acceptable-- other than large pea-sized! I think they must be aware of the lousy service because when we arrived, rather than being taken to
a table, (in a more than half empty dining room), we were shown the bar seating. When we asked "could we have a table?" the answer was, "Oh, of course!" --
Maybe this way we could have had more prompt service. When asked if we'd like to see a dessert menu, we said "yes" and she dutifully dropped them off without a comment. But the delay was so long in her return, we decided to get dessert at our hotel. My lesson? Eat at the bar to avoid the lousy waitress!

Really recommend this restaurant. Excellent selection and unusual for DC. Very well priced and ideal for dining alone, with fiends or in a group

My husband and I were excited to try Zentan on our recent DC trip, but we were disappointed with several aspects of our experience there. Our table wasn't ready when we arrived a few minutes prior to our reservation, but we were fine to sit at the bar for a bit. The bartender was initially very friendly, but they were out of a couple key ingredients for their special cocktails, so that was a bit frustrating. We were finally given a table, but asked to close out the bar tab. It took my husband 15 full minutes to do so (instead of having them just add the drinks to our meal total), and the bartender was rather brusque with him. Finally, the menu was pretty limited without any real flare or interesting items, so we just got sushi (which was good). We also ordered a tofu appetizer, which came out 5 minutes after our sushi (no explanation from the waiter). The atmosphere was nice, but overall it was an average evening and the service was definitely disappointing.

Anything you order will be delicious (I promise). Try challenging the bar staff to mix up the perfect pairing for your meal (they're really good at it), and whatever you do, DON'T leave without trying the Beignets!
