“Peaceful and beautiful in stone's throw of the Capitol”
Reviewed August 5, 2013

This is the only place on the Mall that is open later in the evening. It's a gorgeous collection of an unbelievably large collection of plants and plant environments. When we were there, people were photographing a large plant called arum. Expectations seemed high on it's eventual opening whose scent we read resembles rotten fish and onions. We were happy it stayed closed while we were there. We spoke with the curator who told us how much effort has gone into the buildings (glass conservatories) since its earlier run-down state. I'd say they have done a great job!

“Nice to see”
Reviewed August 4, 2013

We were a part of a tour that was very nice, but too fast. I would have liked it to go slower to look at more plants or maybe have a movie to watch where the tour guide couldn't fill in. But it was very nice to see and worth taking a peek

View a plethora of plant varieties in multiple habitats including education on their uses. Nice quiet place without the lines found at the Smithsonian

“The coolest thing in DC!”
Reviewed August 3, 2013

I never knew this was in DC until very recently. We visited for the first time in July and were absolutely blown away by how pretty the place was. It was fascinating to walk through the different zones and just stare in awe at the variety of fauna they've included. This will be a stop on every future DC trip for the rest of my life!
