This is truly the best DC memorial experience. Situated on the Tidal Basin not far from the Jefferson Memorial, the FDR Memorial is a series of evocative sculptures and water monuments that really do justice to the man and teach your kids (and you) what exactly that means. This memorial is not as beautiful as the Jefferson Memorial, but it is more staggering in its impact. I have taken my three little kids here for years, and they still learn something every time. Moreover, it is visually stunning. Do not miss this.

I liked this memorial, I liked how it also memorialized Roosevelt's famous dog and the wonderful Eleanor Roosevelt. I did not see many women in monuments here, so this was nice.

This is a great little memorial, I think it is touching that the dog that meant so much to him. It is just a quick stop to make but definitely one worth making.

This turned out to be my favorite memorial on the mall. I took the time to read every inscription and I was very taken by the thoughts. I was not alive when FDR was president, but his words show what a great leader he was. And he lead the country through two overwhelming crises.

Anytime a guest comes into town, my husband would say " let's go the the Roosevelt memorial". He simply loves it. It is well designed depicting his 4 terms as a President. Nicely tucked away near the Tidal basin - one could fin peace in the memorial premises and/or enjoy the walk around the tidal basin. This si one of the places most gorgeous around the Cherry blossoms time!!
