The FDR memorial is best when you aren't rushing through. It is wonderful to stroll through, touch, experience. Very moving.

We saw this on a very cold day and didn't have time to spend reading all the quotes and contemplating the legacy of this great president. On a 4 acre site the area is divided into 4 large "rooms" each devoted to his terms in office. The sculptures, bas-relief carvings, engraved quotes, and fountains not only make this an educational experience but an aesthetic one as well. It sits on the Tidal Basin across from the Jefferson Memorial. The visit here was one of the highlights of our trip and we plan to return when the weather warms up.

Franklin Roosevelt Memorial is a great memorial to visit. The excerpts from this great US President's speeches is all over the memorial, etched in stones. It is almost like a time machine which takes you back to Mr. Roosevelt's days.

The FDR Memorial was on our itinerary just because it was on our way to the Lincoln Memorial. When our "pedicab" stopped out front, were we ever pleasantly surprised. Plan on spending a lot of time here as the FDR Memorial is really four "mini" memorials depicting FDRs unprecedented four terms in office. Each is uniquely different and worth spending time to get better acquainted with FDR's accomplishments while in office.

You won't regret the time spent here.
