“Rooms upon rooms”

FDR was the only president to serve more than 2 terms due to being a wartime president. He was also crippled by polio and wheelchair bound, but this was a secret kept from the nation. As a result the memorial did not include sculptures of FDR in his wheelchair until recent additions at the start.

The memorial is massive, includes many rooms with quotes and waterfalls. Impressive!

“First Visit”
Reviewed September 21, 2013 via mobile

Although I have been to DC several times, this was my first visit to the FDR Memorial. I loved it. To me, it told much more about the man than other memorials. I would like to return at night, but that was not possible this trip. My favorite statue was that of FDR and Fala. I also appreciated their having Mrs. Roosevelt there, too, although I think she should have been closer to the front. I believe this would be a great memorial for children as there are not any steps to climb and the statues are within reach. I will definitely return.

“Wow”

This memorial has four "rooms" that tell very different stories of this long serving President. My favorite was the Bread Line sculpture.

“Gem at night”
Reviewed September 18, 2013

Not many people know of this memorial. Try it at night with the big bus night tour. It's bigger and more impressive as you go through it.

“FDR openly welcomes you”
Reviewed September 18, 2013

The open, walk-through layout of this wonderful memorial with its watery elements was very welcoming. A must see.
