“The memorial at night”
Reviewed August 21, 2013

I was at the memorial after dark, which means it felt less powerful. However, when you go through this memorial, and all its components, you realise, how much FDR was appreciated, and how important he was for the americans.

“Beautiful and Touching”
Reviewed August 21, 2013

This is a beautiful Memorial. The Artistic design is spectacular. I was particularly touched because my father often talked of Rosevelts programs and the work he did for them.

“Lovely walk”
Reviewed August 21, 2013

Loved the memorial - it is an interesting design with lots of different waterfalls and statues along with the quotations of Franklin Roosevelt inscribed on the walls. It is peaceful and very beautiful, also a good place to cool down during the day as it provides shelter from the hot sun.

“Hop along, Cassidy.”
Reviewed August 21, 2013

The memorial is distinctive and a fitting tribute. It is spread out, so you walk from section to section. The numerous waterfalls/fountains, referring to FDR's love of water (he liked sailing), are an inspired variation from other memorials. FDR's speech-writing and speech-making skills are exhibited in several statues, such as a man listening to the radio during a Fireside Chat speech. Although FDR propelled America headlong into the miasma of socialistic bureaucracy, that political shift was probably unavoidable during the Great Depression. FDR tried to hide the fact he used a wheelchair and wore leg braces, but this memorial speaks the truth openly. No reason to suppress the truth, even if FDR cold not hop up on a horse like the old-time TV cowboy Hopalong Cassidy.

“Expansive”
Reviewed August 20, 2013

This takes time to see all the depictions. There is a lot of quotes and displays of each. Very much worth taking time to see.
