“A stop on the Hop on Hop Off Bus Tour”
Reviewed July 30, 2014

My husband, myself daughter and granddaughter caught one of the Hop on Hop Off buses while visiting DC. It was really worth the price. Unfortunately we got on a little later in the day and didn't get to the National Cathedral until it was almost closing. When we got inside we were disappointed because they were holding a wedding rehearsal and could only look through the doors. We did visit other parts of the building and the view of the surrounding area from the top was awesome.

“A good way out but reached by the bus tours. Built in 1903 in Gothic style, it looks a lot older than it is.”

Well conducted tour inside. Plus time to reflect as well. A piece of moon rock is in one of the windows. Nothing to dislike

“Scaffolding and Nets.”
Reviewed July 29, 2014

If you're a fan of photography it can be a disappointment to turn up to an attraction and find it recovering from earthquake damage.
That aside, the National Cathedral is well worth a visit and the 'behind the scenes' tour is informative and entertaining.
Not every Gothic cathedral has a gargoyle in the form of Darth Vader's helmet or a stained glass window containing a piece of the moon. It seems that humour and faith can intermingle.
Even with the limitations of maintenance and reconstruction you'll be in a very special place. Public transport from the city centre will get you there and the journey is a pleasure in itself.

“Classic Cathedral with Unique American Touches”
Reviewed July 27, 2014

Gothic, with moon rocks. Don't miss the stained glass window with a moon rock embedded in it, or the Darth Vader gargoyle. A beautiful space, whether you're religious or not. Also full of history. Dr. King spoke from the pulpit.
