This is a remarkable place with a remarkable history, worth a visit by any American visiting DC. Since the 2011 earthquake they've instituted a recommended donation per person; pay it. Take the time to stroll the grounds and gardens, too...

While you're there, be sure to visit their impressive bookstore/gift shop, where we always uncover a treasure or three.

We went to a service Easter afternoon and it was beautiful. Its interesting to see the story of the earthquake damage and the plans for repair.

This cathedral is a one of a kind place even though it resembles European churches. Make time for a guided tour. Sunday afternoon was a great time to visit. Parking is free on Sunday. Visit their website before you go. Go up to the observation tower if it is open. Great view.

Very beautiful and awe inspiring. The stained glass windows are lovely. A fine placeto have a quiet moment amid the hustle and bustle of the city.

The cathedral is absolutely breathtaking. The main section of the cathedral is lined with the flags of each state. If you are able to take in a service here, make sure that you do. The lower levels and surrounding gardens are quite impressive also.
