A very beautiful cathedral, much to see here. Excellent place to visit. If you come after 4 pm, you can park beside the cathedral without the danger of being towed away

I recommend checking the schedule to enjoy a service or lecture at this ethereal place. We just happened to arrive 45 minutes before the Monday choral service, when the National Cathedral school choir was practicing and were able to appreciate the amazing acoustics and the stunning glass windows and gothic architecture as they were intended. There are very interesting exhibits telling the decades of craftsmanship, needlepoint prayer pillows, and now the effects of the earthquake. As a result, there is now a requested donation to visit the cathedral, with the option of other interesting tours. It sits on one of the highest points of DC, with the grounds worth strolling. They also have lectures, with an upcoming with in November with Barbara Kingsolver that I wish I could be in town to attend!

This is one of my favorite stops in Washington. The architecture is breathtaking. Be advised that there is currently a lot of scaffolding around exterior portions that were damaged in last year's earthquake as repairs continue to be made, but don't let this stop you from visiting.

Beautiful stained glass windows. You can do a self guided tour with brochure or a docent led tour. Bus service or a couple mile walk north on Wisconsin Ave.
