Owner description: The Capitol is among the most architecturally impressive and symbolically important buildings in the world. The Senate and the House of Representatives have met here for more than two centuries. Begun in 1793, the Capitol has been built, burnt, rebuilt, extended, and restored; today, it stands as a monument not only to its builders but also to the American people and their government.

We contacted our Senator about various tours when we knew we were coming to DC and they replied with booking us a private tour through the Capitol Building. I guess certain Congressman and Senators employ tour guides for when constituents come to DC and we were lucky enough that Senator Burr has one. The tour took us through areas most visitors don't normally get to visit and allowed us plenty of time to ask questions and to get to know our guide (who was amazing, by the way). We got tons of pictures and definitely a more personable experience than the other people we saw there. I strongly suggest contacting your Congressman and Senator to see what they can book for you. Especially since there are things available to them and their constituents that you're not allowed access to as a member of the general public.

Went with my husband and children. Such a great tour. Our tour guide- Mr. Judge rocked! He was enthusiastic and knew everything about everything. I never realized all of the symbolism in so many items inside the Capitol. The rotunda is immense and so impressive. The dome is something like 9 million pounds! And the statues and wonderful. Mr. Judge showed us all kinds of neat things- in the old Congressional room - the acoustics are so bad- sound echoes around the dome and you can hear someone on the other side of the room talking in a whisper because it travels around the circular room, but you can't hear that same person 10 feet away. Really great stuff thanks to Mr. Judge! We received gallery passes, but Congress was in recess so we just visited the room. Still neat. I'd say we were there about 2 hours. Wish we had more time.

We held our 15th annual family reunion in DC and took advantage of the beauty of the area. This was a schedule tour as part of our reunion activity. Gets pretty crowded around this time of the year. The weather was beautiful and the adventure was equally nice! Use public transportation -- it's cheaper and less stressful. The guided tour is nice. You'll learn a lot of its history too! Be sure to schedule a tour of the galley area with your Representative.

Interesting-made reservations on line. Watched a introduction video and toured 3 basic rooms with 35 other people. Wished there was more time to take pictures of paintings and statues or with family. There are so many tours in one area that your rushed through each area. Didn't go through the museum, so don't know how that was. We were tired and hungry after the tour.
