Owner description: The Capitol is among the most architecturally impressive and symbolically important buildings in the world. The Senate and the House of Representatives have met here for more than two centuries. Begun in 1793, the Capitol has been built, burnt, rebuilt, extended, and restored; today, it stands as a monument not only to its builders but also to the American people and their government.

From an architectural point of view alone this place is fantastic. Just breathtaking. But a curated visit is also worth it, for it gives interesting insight on America's history and legal system.

“Take the tour - worth it!”
Reviewed January 11, 2013

We stopped by the Capitol to visit a friend and were lucky enough to get a behind-the-scenes tour, but anyone can get a similar treat if you enter at the visitor's center. There's a very inspirational and historic introductory film (about 15 minutes long) to start, and then you'll get to see all the opulence and hear all the fun trivia about life in our nation's center of operations.

“So-so”
Reviewed January 9, 2013

While an impressive site, these were closed to the public due to preparation for the upcoming inauguration. Clearly a lot of impressive preparation was going on. Unfortunately, all those seats and such detracted from the overall view of the Capitol structure and architecture.
