Visited late on a Friday night and went bar hopping. Absolutely enjoyed myself. The people are nice and just want to have a good time. My friends had a good time as well. I'm not from the area (visiting from Texas) and had never been to an area like this. So much fun

After looking at several on-line reviews for Adams Morgan, we thought it would be something new, upscale and have lots of great shopping! First it is located around 18th Street NW between Florida Avenue & Columbia Road and from Columbia Road between 16th Street and Wyoming Avenue.
We had a really hard time trying to find these areas with so many one-way streets. Once we found Adams Morgan all we could say was "is this it??" It didn't look or feel like what we had expected. It looked like it was trying to be the new Dupont Circle of olden days! We had been to Dupont Circle back in and around 1968 so no comparison! It is so diverse with numerous Ethiopian, Italian, Latino and Middle Eastern influences present both in the choices of restaurants and or in the shopping. There were a lot of people eating at various outside cafes while we were there and you could hear lots of cheering and shouting coming from one of the roof-top restaurants.
We strolled up and down several streets but left promptly because we were not impressed!!

Want visit an area where the DC locals go to eat? Adams Morgan is it! The rich variety of restaurants is amazing. Ethiopian, Italian, Latino, Caribbean and Middle Eastern food can be found here. It is hard to find a bad restaurant here. Amsterdam Falafel is one of my favorites. You choose the ingredients to custom build your own falafel sandwich.

The Adams Morgan Days festival is one of the best in a city of great festivals. The neighborhood is constantly changing so, visit often. I went there weekly when I lived in DC.

Dupont Circle is a short walk away. The National Zoo is also nearby as are the new shops on upper 14th St.

If you're walking Embassy Row, then Kalorama Rd. leads to Connecticut Ave., the heart of the Adams-Morgan district. This is the chief nightlife area of Washington and also the center of the Ethiopian community, the largest outside the country. Take this opportunity to have an Ethiopian meal. Restaurants offer combination entrees, popular among tourists who have never had this kind of food before and would like a sampler.

This is an innovative, up and coming neighbourhood with excellent ethnic food choices and funky row house revivals. The architecture is worth a look and it's an easy walk from here to the next metro stop at Dupont Circle or Woodley Zoo.
