We go there perhaps once a month and it never disappoints. Food is good and well seasoned. I tend to have the pizza Margherita, which always delivers. My wife is more creative in her choices, but she's always very pleased with the food. Last night she had the mushroom pasta and a glass of chardonnay and she enjoyed them both very much. The staff is attentive and the waiters are always around. Since the restaurant is pretty much a very big room, there's no room for them to hide! Posto is our preferred choice when dining on 14th street

Three of us had dinner here last Friday night. We found the restaurant on Open Table and were so glad we did. 14th St. is an up and coming restaurant destination and Posto is a place one should seek out. The atmosphere is lively and bustling. There are two large community tables near the bar and open kitchen. Service is welcoming and our waiter, Ben, was exceptionally professional. The menu is unique in character in that it melds big and small plates into a dinner one can create. One can make a dinner of just appetizers, which featured cured meats, grilled baby octupus, interesting cheeses and other items. We started with an appetizer tray of bracciola, prosciutto, and percorino romano - delicious!!

Entrees each have their own signature. Nothing here is a bit standard. I enjoyed a whole dorado, skillfully boned at the table by Carlo, one of the owners/managers on the floor. My wife and son enjoyed some outstanding pasta dishes such as an egg spinach fettucini and a ravioli with thyme sauce. There were so many interesting selections, it was very difficult to choose, but also make me look very forward to visiting again when we are in D.C. Prices are reasonable for the quality presented. The restaurant is well-staffed with waiters and bussers that keep things moving, water glasses quickly replenished, and finished plates removed. We really enjoyed our dinner here! Bravo to the management and staff!

Loved the pizza at this neighborhood trattoria. Classic Italian menu from meats to fish. Large open dining room. Bustling late. Great location and very good food.

Should've known there was a problem when we entered. Didn't see a meal on any table, but everyone there seemed to be enjoying their drinks. The table next to us only ordered water and coffee while a table of 8 were only drinking (it's possible they had a meal earlier but every person received a separate check as they checked out). There were two cooks/chefs that we saw standing (waiting to do something) and ours was the only meal prepared while we were there... keeping in mind this was after 10pm on a Friday night (it's possible they could be completely different earlier in the evening and we were just being served by the "we can't wait to get out of here staff"). Bread was served cold instead of warm with only unseasoned olive oil as a dip. No effort was made to explain the menu which is partially in Italian without English explanations (thank God for google translate and smart phones) nor was there any mention of specials. Check the online menu before you go to determine if this is your type of Italian restaurant (you'll notice a shortage of pastas for am Italian restaurant and part of my wife's ravioli was hard and unedible... stale or just undercooked I really don't care to know). I had their stripped bass which was good but more like an ala carte item than a meal (maybe that's the way they roll but as I stated earlier, no effort to explain the menu or restaurant as anyone who had pride in their profession or company would usually do). If this seems overly harsh you're welcome to read other reviews I've posted and when I get good value and I service then I'm quick to give praise but sadly we received neither here).

If you are keen for pizzas, you could probably do better elsewhere. Can't judge the rest of the menu though so based on other reviews the pastas may be worth a try.
The service here definitely brought the overall rating up from average to very good - our waiter was excellent.
