We started off with a wonderful bottle of pinot noir at the bar. Service was attentive but not intrusive. We graduated to dinner (also at the bar), which was scrumptious. Pizza margherita, fish, cioppino and a salad, all to share. Each was delicious. Great for small groups looking for a fun evening out.

This is a wonderful trendy wine bar near the Capitol. They have wonderful food and an upscale pleasant decor. It gets crowded in the evenings with lots of locals. A great wine selection on tap too.

This Capitol Hill restaurant was highly recommended, so our expectations were high. Our waiter did not seem very interested in doing what he was paid to do, and our food, which had great descriptions on the menu, was quite average.

I will skip this restaurant on my next visit to DC.

I've come to appreciate Sonoma -- on each visit, the experience has been good. Our most recent experience was an impromptu Friday night dinner following an evening of holiday-oriented DC activities. We made a quick reservation and headed over. We were seated immediately.

The space is nice -- relatively small, sleek, and modern-feeling without being overly stark or over-the-top.

I've never found any difficulty finding things I want to eat off the menu. There's a nice selection of appetizers, vegetables, pastas, salads/soups, and larger main courses. This visit, we split a salad (one was plenty for two people; they kindly put it on two plates), a vegetable, and we each had a pasta. I had a delicious gnocchi (which had cinnamon in it; the hint of spice gave it perfect winter flavor); my partner also really enjoyed his pasta. The only disappointment, food-wise, is the dessert menu -- I never find much appealing on it (and this time we skipped that course).

As you'd expect for a wine bar, there's a well-curated selection of wines. The staff was knowledgeable about the wines (in a non-obnoxious way) and was kind enough to let us try a couple even though we were ordering by the glass. We were pleased with our selection (a delicious Shiraz blend).

Service was good -- our server was quirky, but he had a good sense of humor and was kind and attentive.

Location-wise, it's great if you're staying on the Hill; a bit out of the way if you're staying elsewhere, but an easy Metro or cab ride. I'd recommend dinner here -- we've been multiple times, and it has never disappointed.

Dinner before a theater performance early on a Friday evening. Reservations weren't easy, the restaurant said we could either come at 5:30 or 9:00. Not sure what that was about since many tables were empty when we came in and left. Wait staff was aloof but fast. Nice wine selection. Very small main course portions that left the men in our party wishing they had ordered more. Dessert selections- few and funky. Contemporary urban deco. Meh.
