“Very intersting”
Reviewed October 19, 2013

We used this facility for a private dinner. The staff could not have been better. It is a little old, rest rooms could use a make over, but the overall feel, was very nice. From the theater to the library, you get old world feeling and history.

The theater is intimate designed after the original in Strafford on Avon and the productions are always first rate.

“Fantastic! A Must See!”
Reviewed July 25, 2013

What a great place! The Folger Shakespeare Library far surpassed my expectations.
The outside of the building is deceiving with its deco windows and expanse of stone exterior. It was a lovely surprise to find the interior modeled in the Tudor style - and very well done. We booked a tour of the reading room, which is offered each Saturday at noon. Reservations can be made online and the tour is limited to only 15 guests. I cannot stress enough how much the reading room tour enhanced our experience at the Library. We also strolled through the Elizabethan garden and walked through the Theatre. We loved it all. I would highly recommend. Best of all it's FREE!

“Enjoyable”
Reviewed July 24, 2013

I found it interesting to view some of the early manuscripts of Shakespeare's works. The docent was informative, but my wife is a university English instructor, so she filled in a lot where the docent was lacking. Too bad the great room was closed, due to heating/AC repairs. We'll have to go back next time we're in DC to see the rest.

“Shakespeare at its best!”
Reviewed June 27, 2013

Shakespeare really comes alive at the Folger! The production of "Twelfth Night" was superb from the costumes to the setting to the flawless acting. Being in such an intimate, lovely "period" theater itself is worth the price of admission. Add to that the excellent acting, the bonus of live music by the actors during intermission and you have a first rate experience. We took the Metro which was only 3 or 4 blocks from the theater. If you're planning to go, check for discounted tickets.
