“Van Gogh and more”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 10, 2013

Truly wonderful exhibit which will make you appreciate Van Gogh even more. One of my favorite small museums. You feel as though you are in Europe or a Henry James novel. House my father's favorite painting: "The Boating Party". A wonderful experience.

“Fantastic permanent collection”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 8, 2013

We came for the Van Gogh exhibit, which was wonderful, but I was really impressed with their permanent collection. Just wonderful. A nice way to spend a couple of hours. Definitely worth the admission.

“Well worth a look”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 8, 2013

A wonderfully diverse collection ranging from the French Impressionists to Abstract Expressionists all housed in the splendid home of former steel billionaire Duncan Phillips. The home had to be extended in recent times to house the ever growing collection. The collection boasts a great showing of works by Degas, Braque and American artists such as Homer, Whistler, Pinkham Ryder. Sadly Edward Hopper although allegedly in the collection was nowhere to be seen.

“DO NOT MISS”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 7, 2013

this may be one of the smaller museum in a town of overwhelmingly large museums. If you truly care about art this is the one place you can not miss. Several of the paintings are the best in the world. The boat party by Renoir is one of the best impressionists in the world and is worth the visit. There is a great variety of art in the city but this is a not miss.. They if your care about some the great American artists this is the place. A great place in a great part of the city.

“Nice little museum”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 7, 2013

This museum is located in the Dupont Circle area and is located in an older residence combined with a newer building. The collection is nice but what made our visit lovely was a special Van Gogh exhibit .
