Owner description: Not just a park in the city, but a kind of leisurely museum, with a scattering of Civil War forts, a cemetery and a 19th-century mill within its bounds.

Great way to escape the city. Love that is is partly closed on the weekends and holidays for all to enjoy. I don't think everyone in DC really knows how much is there to see and do.

Rock Creek Park, a great place to hike. We were in the area visiting family and took a family hike through areas of my husbands past in Rock Creek Park. Gorgeous scenery and we took in the scent of damp fallen leaves and beautiful colors!

This park has so many little scenes that are worth seeing that it is worth it to try it the first time on a bike so you can see all of it, but it is a long haul!

It is peaceful, pristine and fresh. Abundant fresh air. The cyclers are catered to. It 's a place to contemplate the beauty of nature. Whether you want to walk, hike jog or bike, Rock Creek Park is the place to go to. You may watch wild life and listen to their songs. It is very peaceful. In the summer time it is insulated with natural cool air conditioner

Seriously rivals NY's Central Park (well, okay, not really - doesn't have the location) in terms of loveliness and flora... not so easy to get to the best of without a car (hence 4 not 5 stars), but a runner's paradise... unlike Central Park, it does not allow dogs off leash ever (CP gives full access from 6-9a.m and after 9 p.m. to furry friends off leash... a puppy's paradise). If that's not an issue with you, and you like wilderness in the city, this park is amazing.
