1 king w/pullout sofa, quality décor! 10th floor. Thick walls between rooms, modern wall thermostats worked excellent, quiet. bathroom was spotless. Short walk to Chinatown metro stop! And even without metro, you can walk to Smithsonian (would be too far for small children). There is an italian restaurant attached to hotel. Downsides: Had to line up just to get to plates for the breakfast buffet despite getting down at 8:50am. Breakfast ends 9:30 on weekends. Very small area to get items for breakfast. Not enough seating so had to line up again for elevator to take family of four's breakfasts up to room to eat. Very inconvenient. I think they could have done much better with that, knowing it was a busy 4th weekend. You could hardly get out of elevator because of the breakfast line! They need to think of different buffet layout. No direct parking. No parking was available just to check in, had to circle the block twice until a parking spot available. There is a $40+/per night for valet parking -offsite. So we found a clean well lit garage around the corner and parked ourselves for less. Other point to think about, no minifridge or microwave in room.

Stayed at the Fairfield Inn in DC on business. The rooms were clean, a little small but with excellent beds. Lots of plugs for devices. The staff were friendly . The location was convenient. The breakfast was fair. Overall a good value in an expensive city. A good choice for those looking for value.

We have stayed at this location before. Cannot beat the proximity to the Metro, good food, and some of the attractions most people want to see in DC. I will say, this is not a quiet area so if you or someone with you is a light sleeper, beware. There were many many sirens going by and we were facing the alley. You hear neighbors and passersby in the hallway. And I felt like the A/C kicked on (loudly) every time I was almost asleep. But it is not that big a deal honestly. The staff was very very friendly from the front desk to the concierge to the bellboy (is that the right word anymore?) to the cleaning staff. We would absolutely stay again.

Our vacation stay was for 3 nights (June 27th -30th). Room was clean and adequate in size. Hotel is in Chinatown near the Metro and numerous restaurants. We were able to walk to most places of interest such as White House, Spy Museum, Air and Space Museum etc. The hotel staff is absolutely top notch. We can not remember a staff more accommodating and friendly than Fairfield's. Breakfast was plentiful and well cared for by Fairfield staff. Concierge was always available for advice or directions. We took 2 great tours recommended by the Concierge and would recommend "OnBoard Tours" to any visitor.
This would be our FIRST CHOICE for a D.C. hotel when we visit again.

Room Tip: We had a room overlooking an alley, and initially we were very happy to see that. We thought…"a...

Very clean hotel. Located in Chinatown area. Felt safe returning to hotel at 8pm from National Mall. Which is close by. Close to Union Station and White House. Great complimentary hot breakfast. Only offers valet parking which can be confusing due to traffic on H Street. Drove past it the first time and had to circle the block. Hotel requires the use of key card to operate elevators which adds to the safety of hotel.

This is a busy hotel in a bustling neighborhood, and if you're looking for peace and quiet, many rooms here will not provide that. I experienced three rooms over a two day stay. My first room was on the third floor directly over the entrance to the Irish pub on the ground floor. That did not seem like a peaceful location, so I asked for a different room.

Second room was 721, which was facing the back alley (good) , but adjacent to the elevators (bad). I could hear the elevator chimes, which don't only go off when the elevator stops at the floor, but also inside the elevator as it passes each floor. Sounded like a pinball machine was going all the time out in the hall.

For my second night, I moved to room 203 and finally got some peace and quiet. If you want a quiet room, I think that only those ending with 03 and 05 will provide that.

Front desk staff was nice and friendly, and always accommodated my request to find a better room - but when the hotel's busy, there are not always a lot to choose from.

I could never get the wi-fi to work with my laptop. The front desk did supply an ethernet cable which worked most of the time.

Breakfast was a zoo, and the only way to deal with the overcrowding was to take food back up to my room.

While traveling with the family I try to stay places close to the attractions that are not terribly expensive. This is a winner! The staff was incredibly accommodating, rooms clean and well appointed, breakfast hot and friendly staff serving it. There are no complaints on this stay.
