“Awesome for relaxing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 27, 2013

Even though it's a little bit out of the way, it's a great place for walking and taking in all that nature has to offer. The original columns of the Capitol are a real sight that gives the place an enchanted feel.

“It should be special but it isn't”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 20, 2013

This garden should be spectactular but is under funded. As a result it is really not worth visiting. The highlight are the bonsai trees. In fact my garden is prettier.
Rather than drop bombs on people the Federal Government should give the Arboretum more money so it could be a stellar attraction.

“Bonsai garden a must see”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 12, 2013

Biking or driving are probably the best way to see this place as it is fairly extensive with lots of interesting and beautiful areas to explore. The Japanese gardens are thoughtful. Excellent for birding as well since the vegetation are natural draws for many varieties of birds.

Different times of the year will yield different focus and blooms, so I suggest considering visiting across the 4 seasons.

“Huge Place - Walk and/or Drive”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 24, 2013

On the outskirts of DC lie expansive grounds full of interesting plants, trees, and edifices. You can drive to most places, then get out a walk. They have Japanese gardens which I would recommend leaving time for as well as the restaurant that sits astride a Japanese Koi pond(s). This attraction is a great distraction from the hustle of the inner city and provides a relaxing and scenic respite. You'll also find great information in the way of park rangers/botanists that eagerly field all annoying questions with a smile.

“Worth a look”

Despite not having a huge interest in plants I really enjoyed all the displays and different plants that they have set up as groups. The orchids were spectacular
