I recently took a group of 40 youth and adults to DC for a mission trip, and we selected DC by Foot as one of our historical/fun side trips. What a great decision that was! Our tour guide, Steve, was INCREDIBLY accomodating and patient as I changed the date and time of our tour at least 3 times to accomodate circumstances that arose. As we made and changed our plans, he was always available by phone, and returned my calls promptly if not. The tour itself was very enjoyable, with Steve giving just the right amount of history, folklore, and fun facts in order to keep the group of middle and high school students and their chaperones engaged and entertained. Everyone was so engaged, in fact, that NO ONE whined about the walking, which in and of itself was a miracle giving the amount of walking we had done in DC the previous few days. Because it was a group tour and we paid a group rate ($300), he customized and personalized the tour just for us, taking us to see the White House, the Washington Monument, a long view of the Jefferson, the WW II and the Lincoln Memorials. At the end of the tour, we asked Steve how to get to the metro and he graciously escorted us to the nearest station which was NOT on his way. One member of our group had been to DC with his daughter's school group a few weeks prior to our trip , and he could not get over how much better the DC by Foot tour was than the other monument walking tour he had done.
I would highly recommend DC by Foot to groups visiting the DC area, and I plan to take my family back soon and do one of their free walking tours. Don't miss it!
