“Nice all-suite hotel in great location for DC Convention Center”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2012

Stayed at this hotel for a multi-day conference in DC due to its proximity to the Convention Center, and as it is an all-suite hotel, so more space for similar cost to other standard hotels. The suite was well-appointed and very clean, with a nice main bedroom and bathroom, but note that the pull-out sofa is only a double and not that comfortable for adults to sleep on, although kids should be ok. The suites are air conditioned but there is no pool. The location is perfect for the Convention Center but all the main DC sights are a bit further away, so if mobility is a concern, staying closer to the Mall would be a better choice. The area around the hotel is fine to walk out for dinner and transport in the evening, although I would hesitate to go any further east than the Convention Center if you are by yourself. Taxis are plentiful and a reasonable cost even for one person. Staff are friendly and helpful with local recommendations for restaurants and sights.

In having a meeting near the convention center, I chose this property because it had a great price and I could walk to the meeting. The reviews I read here were accurate. Descriptions of Marble, Kitchen, and features are spot on. I have attached pictures that support their reviews of how awesome the rooms are. To be fair, I asked for a quiet room, so my views outside the windows are the brick walls of their neighbors. I don't care for a view room that includes traffic noise.. so I was happy. Some may not like that. The staff are very friendly, and bend over backwards to help. I can see why many people give it a "5!" It is literally a 3 minute walk to the convention center, and 2-3 blocks from all of the actions around the center, including the Metro subway.

I gave it a four, or really a 4.5 after much debate in my mind for a few reasons.

They had a room on the first floor for continental breakfast that was well stocked, but after breakfast, there's no place to meet and eat after 5p other than your room. For a frequent traveler, that is a low. In addition, to get a cab, you need to walk a few blocks because the address is not in a good spot. You can call in advance for a Cab, but if you don't you'll have to walk to find one. While it is two blocks from the Morrison Clark I reviewed earlier, so there's trees nearby, it is across the street from the construction of the new Marriott Marquis hotel that will impact this property with construction traffic. So, if you want a room with a view, you will see cranes and steel I-Beams. In addition, the street is very dark at night, so I would not walk around after dinner or sunsets. In about 3 years, this place will be AWESOME and desirable to stay as the construction will be gone and the street will be well lit. If they offered a bar with snacks between 4p-10p, that would help raise my ranking.

Room Tip: All the rooms are great, well appointed, very clean. quiet rooms have no views. Continental Breakfa...

This place is more like a condo than a hotel. Our suite had a full kitchen, living room, and separate bedroom. Bathroom was very high-end- marble, bowl sink, fancy shower. If you're planning on walking to all the sites, this place is a bit out of the way- everything we wanted to see was at least a mile away. There is a ton of construction in the area and looks like there will be until at least 2014 judging by the completion dates on all the construction signs. This wasn't so much of a noise issue but many sidewalks were closed making it annoying to get around the area.

I highly recommend this hotel! We booked our room due to it's close proximity to the Washington Convention Center, an easy 1.5 block walk. The room was actually a 1 bedroom apartment, very clean, roomy, stocked with cooking utensils, pots/pans, dishes, even a full size stove, refrigerator, and dishwasher. The staff was very friendly and helpful, especially Myke Syn, the chief engineer who helped us with our internet connection and helped us load our luggage when the shuttle bus picked us up. Just around the corner is a CVS where we purchased a few groceries and sodas, which saved us a bundle of money.

The best hotel that I have ever stayed at!! Stayed 2 weeks. Great staff that tries hard to accommodate guests. Great rooms that are like an apartment--it is absolutely the quietest room that we have ever had. Loved the computer in the lobby that I could use. The pillow top beds are extremely comfortable with extra pillows and down comforters. They gave us a pad for the pull-out couch bed in the living room that made it more comfortable. The multiple jets and hand-held wand options of the shower really spoiled us--we want one in our home! Loved the marble floors with my allergies--if you don't like the coldness of the floors, they provide slippers. The full kitchen (even has a dishwasher!) is a dream! They provide many necessities for the kitchen, including utensils, dishes, pots/pans, dish soap, sponges, and even cloth placemats. There are 2 grocery stores and a laundromat less than 1/2 mile away and a CVS pharmacy around the corner. Excellent location--2 minutes from the Convention Center door. Close to public transportation. Not far from the DC tours. This place is THE best choice in DC!!!

Room Tip: Our room, at the end of the hall, was extremely quiet.

The rooms were lovely, like a one bedroom apartment then a hotel room.
The staff was very helpful assisting us with our mobility scooters (bringing them in and out and recharging them for us)
Well equiped and nicely furnished.
The provided breakfast was expensive. We cooked our own meals. There was a CVS next door and a grocery store close.

We were not bothered by the construction across the street and felt perfectly safe in the area. Almost everything is within walking (or for grandparents scootering) distance and the Metro is close for longer trips.

My family and i stayed at the Eldon in May. It was entirely wonderful! I loved the kitchen especially because all my life (10 yrs.) I have never stayed at a hotel with a kitchen in it. One problem- pullout was absolutley HORRIBLE! My mother sat on mattress for less than 10 sec. and said she was sooo glad me & my sis were sleeping on it and not her. She probably feels bad for us.
