We did a last minute booking for the district hotel. The room was tiny, could barely fit our 2 bags in. There were no cupboards. Other than that, the room was clean and the shower very nice. Our room was right next to the lift which was a bit noisy. Breakfast is simple but sufficient.

The pictures do not match the real room. There is no good view and surrounded by neighbor high rise buildings. There was no breakfast and it was out of service. Every thing is so aged and furniture also. The wifi coverage was so poor and almost was useless. Don't waste your money!!

When we arrived (through the unmanned, unlocked front door) there was nobody at the reception desk. We rang the bell a number of times and in the end rang the hotel phone from our mobile. A guy came casually strolling down the stairs and came behind the desk (It could have been another guest for all we knew!)... We were overwhelmed by his remorse for keeping us waiting...

We gave him our details and we checked in, and we were horrified to find our room was by the (unmanned, unlocked) front door, at the front of the hotel. The room itself was comfortable with a clean en-suite and air conditioning (on a side note...how f*%king humid does it get in DC?!) The hotel was also in a good location, walking distance to the White House, Capitol Building and Lincoln Memorial, as well as the 45327449373 museums and art galleries. Also walking distance to some nice and fairly cheap restaurants and bars (which we discovered on our last night after paying extortionate prices for some pretty rubbish food in the centre... typical).

My opinion may be tainted by my dislike for DC in general, in that we spent more time watching the Zimmerman trial than wandering through countless buildings looking at a splash of paint and the bones of a fish tail, BUT the staff were rude and unhelpful, laughing when we asked questions, and we did not feel secure in our room. Also, the breakfast was horrendous. Held in the lobby, rather than dining tables and chairs, we had to sit and eat our stale bagels and dust in a bowl (which they insisted was cereal) on 4 sofas... if you're lucky that is. If they're taken, you're standing! This wasn't a problem for us, as it was right outside our room, so we heard when it was getting busy... every cloud right?

It was only okay.

Great Location, Pictures looked alot better than the room I got when I stayed there and was quite small. I would have expected better given I was staying for three nights.
Staff were helpful and friendly.

Paint falling off woodwork,

No Duvet covers

Sinks not letting out water.

No pressure in bathroom tap over sink,

Stains on carpets,

No net curtains,

Windows had reinforced chicken wire with paint smudges on them in bathroom with a centimetre gap to outside sat at top of window.

Two blown bulbs in lights,

Internal doors didn't shut properly,

No coffee facility.

Really small rooms.

Advertise breakfast but you eat in entrance hall.

Air con over bed directly behind headboard causing vibration and air in face all night. Had to put pillow behind to stop vibration. Couldn't turn it off and put ceiling fan on as that did not work anyway.
Room very small.
No easy access from outside into hotel.

Asked for a cab to train station and he rung a mate. Couldnt get him so said 'do you know what you would be better off hailing a cab' , This meant me running out with cases in rain. Nice service.
Turned up late from being out a couple of nights and no one on desk. No security on front door. No locking.
I was ready for some of this as i had read revues. It was short notice booking really. Its not really that close to anything either as some people suggested in other revues. Its about 10 blocks to whitehouse, maybe more. A long walk. This is the worst hotel i think ive stayed at. Even budget wise there must be better. How can regulations let them get away with it.

Room Tip: Cant think of any way you can get a better stay here. Book early and maybe even pay more with other...

Me and my girlfriend read the reviews at this website after we booked two nights in this hotel. Although we were prepared for the worst case scenario, we had a very pleasant stay. The room 2nd floor) was clean and neat, although quiet small. The breakfast and room-cleaning were decent. The personnel was friendly.

If you want a cheap hotel at a great location, this is a good option.

Room Tip: At least the room we had on the 2nd floor is good
