My boyfriend and I just stayed at Hotel George this past Labor Day weekend visiting from New York City. We stayed in room 304, a Deluxe King and brought our Mini-Dachshund, Winnie along. I broke down my review to make it easier to read.
AH-mazing service! Even before we checked-in, I had emailed the management, letting them know this was our first time and if they had any suggestions for things to do. The Guest Service Agent, Edgardo imiedately responded letting me know he had an envelope waiting for us with tickets to the Holocaust Museum, printed out directions for The Smithsonian and some other tourist information. I thought that was really classy.
Check-in was really smooth and very friendly. We didnt get to the hotel until 11pm EST at night. They had a doggy bag full of treats and toy for our dog. Because we were driving a Hybrid, our valet fee was waived. So cool! The restaurant was closed already and we mentioned we were hungry so take out menu's were given to us.Valet service was always super fast and we never waited more than 10 minutes.
In short, the staff really went above & beyond. From the General Manager to the Valet, service was top notch.
LOBBY & ROOM:
I posted pictures of our room and lobby. The lobby and sitting area was very clean. They even had a wii system to play on which was random but I loved.
I'm very torn about the room. First off when we arrived they, had a fruit and cheese with a bottle of wine and a personal written note from the management. A great way to start of the weekend and was very thoughtful.
I wouldnt say the room decor was luxury but it was nice and the furniture in good shape. Pretty plain but comfortable bed. The bathroom was clean and I enjoyed having the bathtub and step-in shower option.
My ONLY complaint with the room was the carpet. Keeping in mind that this is a dogfriendly hotel, I'm not uber upset about this but it definitely needed a good shampooing. Stains all over and it kind of smelled. Vacuuming wont be enough. I would suggest installing wood flooring but I know that can be quite costly. I just think it would be less icky as I didnt want to walk on it without socks.
I totally see the purpose for having this hotel here when Congress is in session and businesses opened but for us the locationed was horrible. The hotel is next to Union Sation which is nice but there are ZERO restaurants or night life near-by past 11pm. It's our fault though for not doing better research on where we wanted to stay. We had breakfast at the restaurant only once. Quite expensive but what you can expect from a hotel restaurant. Service was great and friendly. No complaints.
All in all, it was great experience at the hotel and we would recommend it to anyone looking to stay in that location.
