First we arrived about 10 minutes early and they said their ONLY waiter was not there yet. Then the salad was extremely small and missing pears that were listed as part of the salad.
Gnocci may have been made by Lean Cuisine. THEN, the floor started vibrating from party down below. VERY DISAPPOINTING. Much better options exist in the Dupont Circle area

Yes...most of the menu is Italian food. I liked how they prepare the Bisteca. We had a nice bottle of Banfi Chianti and the ambience and service is great.
Downstairs they have a Pub that looks interesting for the younger crowd...

The Darlington House in DC will stay with us forever as we had Sunday brunch en route to Arlington National Cemetery whilst watching Andy Murray destroy Federer in the London Olympic tournament. Darlington House is a classy place. The ambience on a sunny Sunday DC morning was perfect with the farmers' market just outside. The staff were very welcoming, the service was first class and the food was hot and tasty. we will return to DC and we will visit DH again.

Three of us dined at Darlington House to celebrate the holidays. We had a thoroughly lovely meal and will definitely return there. The service was very attentive without being intrusive. They pour a nice glass of wine - no $13 glass that you finish in five sips. For appetizers, one had the mussels - delicious - and one had the insalata mista with gorgonzola. The salad could have been better - there was way too much raddichio (it was billed as mixed greens and did not indicate it was heavy on the raddichio) and not enough gorgonzola. Our entrees were the gnocchi, the pumpkin (or was it butternut squash?) tortelloni, and the chicken. The two pasta dishes were excellent, and while the chicken dish was enjoyable, be prepared that it it baby chicken, so if you're a hungry meat-and-potatoes type, you might be disappointed. Overall, though, the food was very good. The atmoshpere of the restaurant (upstairs - downstairs is a pub-type place) is elegant and charming without being stuffy. We dined early, and as we were leaving we commented that we were glad we had gotten there early, as the noise level was getting a tad high. But, overall, Darlington House is a terrific special-occasion choice and not exorbitantly pricey.
