Each time I've gone something different or new has caught my attention. It's one of those places you can visit often and enjoy each time.

Thank Karen L

This is an amazing zoo! I couldn't believe it was free to get in. It was set in beautiful, spacious grounds and frankly would be nice for a walk amongst the trees quite aside from the animals. It was a great pleasure to go around a zoo where all of the animals seemed to have plenty of space, as natural as possible surroundings and activities to keep them busy.

I couldn't believe the extent of the zoo, which has a wide range of animals. It has separate houses for birds, reptiles, fish etc. as well as outdoor enclosures for gorillas, elephants, tigers, lions, seals etc. What marks this zoo out compared to others I have visited were the pandas and red pandas. Amazing to see these creatures and the enclosures didn't have glass or wires so you had a real sense of being close to them and it was possible to get good photos. The zoo is well laid out, so even without looking too much at the map it is easy to get around and see everything. There is quite a lot of walking, which might be a problem for some people.

It was also good to see them setting up for Halloween activities and everything appeared well-organised. I was pleasantly surprised at how vibrant and busy this attraction was. I visited the Bronx Zoo at a similar time of year the year before and it was deserted with many shops and cafes closed for the winter.

I thought the Orangutan section was particularly interesting and it was lovely to see them playing with sheets and choosing to take part in an activity with a touch screen.

The bird house was also pretty special, though Mr Kiwi was hiding!

All in all, a great day out! In walking distance of Woodley Park metro.

There are a lot of animals that are well kept and the facilities were well maintained. This is activity like most of the museums in DC is free, and it allows for a funfilled inexpensive family day. On a hot day, always bring a waterbottle with you.

Thisis a great zoo with an outstanding collection of animals. While not quite as good as zoos like San Diego it is well worth the time given unique exhibits such as the Pandas.

We got to see a variety of animals who on this paritcular day were very animated and seemed to be performing. The exhibits are well designed and allow large crowds to view the animals without disruptng them. As a no charge facilty it is a good value, but consider making a donation or becoming a Friend of the National Zoo.
