“"5 * for the view only"”
Reviewed June 17, 2013

Although impressive from the outside I was very disappointed with the inside of the building.
After going through security I was expecting shops and decent food outlets only to find all the shops selling a load of tat and cheap souvenir's be prepared to be hassled in the shops as they want your money and follow you around and for this reason did not buy and as for the food well I cannot comment on taste as I did not fancy anything that was on offer.
There is no air condition and it was unbearably hot even at 10am.

The only reason I can say to visit here is the impressive view you get from the top of the Tower that is a must as the views are stunning you can see right over to Arlington Cemetery and the Cathedral etc.

I understand they do sometimes have a band playing but even that would not make me stay inside as I said only worth going up the tower for the fab views.

“Worth the visit”
Reviewed June 15, 2013

We were on a Pedicab ride on the Natiional Mall in DC and our young driver advised us to visit the Old Post Office build saying that it has the best view of DC even better than the Washington Monument. The Monument was down for repairs at the time. The Post Office is on 12th street across from the Triangle Metro Station. You will need to go through security, then walk through a not so attractive food court to an elevator monitored by a Ranger. The elevator takes you up several floors, then you wrap around to another smaller elevator that takes you to the top of the bell tower. At the top there really is a wonderful view, especially of the Capital. The view is marred, however, by a crosswork of cables in about 8 inch squares.

“Free is for me!”

Awesome view of Washington DC, and no charge! I would recommend NOT going over lunch, as you will encounter the many field trips. Many places to eat at this attraction, and they will all be begging for your money. Same with the shops, be ready to say "no thank you" and keep moving! Great spot for pictures though once you're at the top!

“Great View”
Reviewed June 12, 2013

The Old Post Office Tower offers the best view of DC now that the Washington Monument is closed for repairs. The nice thing about the Old Post Office Tower is it is free to ride to the top. The view from there is amazing. Yes it is a little annoying with the wires but if you know how to operate your camera you should be able to get good pictures. I had my big lens and got some nice pictures. It is a good place to get a lay of the land before you head out exploring the rest of DC. After being on top, walk down to see the bells. They are cool. There is a food court at the bottom of the tower with your typical fast food places. But the main attraction here is the tower.

“ICK! Dirty little food court!”
Reviewed June 11, 2013

My traveler's guide book suggested this for a quick lunch and views of the city. We couldn't get past the absolutely FILTHY food court. The grime was visible, food on the floor, grease on glass displays. Completely disgusting. My kid bought a $5 DC tshirt and we RAN for an outdoor cafe filled with business types instead.
