“Pavillion tower may be Washington's best kept secret view”
Reviewed June 6, 2013

The pavilion itself isn't that exciting - little tourist boutiques and a food court (good to escape expensive Washington restaurants). The gem of this place is the bell tower that provides unparalleled views of the Capital, Pentagon, the National Mall, and surrounding area. Less crowded than other tourist areas and easily accessible.

“Worth a trip up the tower”
Reviewed June 4, 2013

As this is the highest vantage point open at the moment until the Washington Monument re-opens, it is well worth making the trip up the tower. Not easy to take good photos but good to see the city from above. It has apparently been sold for a hotel redevelopment so it may not be open to the public for much longer.

“Great view, terrible food”
Reviewed June 4, 2013 via mobile

The tower tour is ok, good views on a clear day but dont go looking for good food options in the food court. As is often the way in the USA you have to go through a security scan to get in, so be prepared to queue.

“Great view from the tower”
Reviewed May 30, 2013

The shops inside the pavilion are nothing great, but to take the elevator to the top is free. Very cool to see the bells and the view from the top. Not a great spot for pictures because they have fencing up, but still really cool!

“Teenage Frenzy”
Reviewed May 30, 2013

Since the Washington Monument was closed, but had a sign suggesting The Old Post Office Building as an alternative view point, we decided to check it out. The building itself is neat. To get to the elevator you have to walk down through the main pavilion which was packed with tour groups of teens & tweens. It was like a mall food court with gift shops & arcades. We only had to wait a few minutes before we got in the elevator with another group of people. It was pretty hot & stuffy- definitely no AC. The elevator goes up 9 floors, then you take a 2nd elevator up 3 more for the view. It was nice to see DC from above, but I felt like I could have done without this stop.
