Two things surprised me the most: the soldiers statues almost vividly walking by and the names of every single country that participated (touched me specially because some relatives from my country are actually veterans)

Surprisingly I had not seen this or the Vietnam memorial in my earlier visits. i found the 19 statues of the men to be spooky and haunting in the light of the dusk. It moved me more than WWII memorial that was more beautiful but not as moving.

The statues of the soldiers walking is so lifelike you can't help but feel you are watching them at that point in time. I recommend people research the loss of soldiers the US experienced before going to the memorial. It will truly allow you to appreciate the memorial.

This memorial is striking even seeing it from a distance. When you get close to it and can see the exhaustion carved into the faces of the men, it impacts you all over again. Walking along the wall and seeing the faces etched there I always feel like I want to read every story about every person shown there...to learn what they went through.

Don't miss walking the entire way around this memorial. It is striking.

We visited at night and I have to say what a spooky and thought provoking memorial. The figures just seem to come out at you.
It is a very good memorial to brave men who died in a land that was not theirs but felt the need to defend others who could -or would not.
