The first memorial to our veterans that gives a feeling of the emotional pain they must have felt ensuring our freedom.

This war memorial is pretty unique in the sandblasted faces that seem to have been magically etched into the smooth black granite surface and reflect across the length of the standing wall. The towering statues of a US squad in full gear on patrol in Korea represent all four branches of the military. The memorial itself is fairly small, but many guides walk around the area and volunteer to answer questions. I like the way the Vietnam Veterans War Memorial, Korean War Veterans Memorial, Lincoln Memorial/Reflecting Pool, and the recently unveiled Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial are all so proximate, which makes visiting each very doable in one outing.

Really is so much more impressive in person. Actuall looks like the figures are going to move. Stunning.

There are three different key things to see at this memorial which make it quite unique and very cool. There was a lot of shade also which was great since we visited on a HOT day.

Make sure you walk through with one of the tour guides. It is free and very interesting. If you walk through on your own you will miss some interesting facts
