“A good find”

Pleasantly surprised. Seen The Met in NY - this is better.
Well presented exhibits with themes and well organised.

“Beautiful place, beautiful art”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 8, 2014

Even if you're not a fan of art or museums, you'll love the National Portrait Gallery. The space is enormous, and the exhibits are beautiful. Eat lunch or grab a snack in the inner courtyard. With its improbably vaulted glass ceiling, you'll probably spend most of your time staring up at the sky.

Stroll past portraits of your favorite presidents, contemplate modern art on one floor, 19th century American landscapes on another, and architecture everywhere. There are tons of nooks and crannies in the museum. I've visited dozens of times, and each time, I discover something new.

The layout is made for contemplative strolling - there are lots of wide benches so you can sit and stare at your favorite piece of art (or just rest your weary feet). And when you're done, the gift shop is full of fun and unusual presents to bring home for your friends and family.

“Fascinating”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 7, 2014

We only saw part of what this museum had to offer - the history of America through the President's portraits. Would definitely return to see some more of the museum. It boasts an atrium with a cafeteria where you can have lunch under a glass ceiling. Very charming.

“Who is cool?”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 7, 2014

Terrific exhibit on "cool" - Fascinating to see who was selected and who didn't make the list. This is also my favorite museum gift shop. The atrium is a great spot for coffee or a cold drink. AND, you can never go wrong with the presidential portraits.

Portraits like you've never seen before. Not just old historical figures, but pop stars and all between in dazzling styles.
