Some very interesting pieces of history along with some thought provoking art. Like all artistic expression, different forms appeal to different persons at various chronological junctures in life. Simply put, we thought some was great and some not so much but that's quite ok!

Being Hispanic, I did expect more of the Latino exhibition selection and believe it could have been much better. San Antonio, Austin and Houston have some amazing local artists that do well in capturing the "mezcla" (mix) of the two cultures in the 20th and now 21st centuries.

Definitely check out the interior courtyard...it's a work of art in itself.

Here is the perfectly situated gallery for those inbetween times. We come here pretty much every time we go to E Street Theaters. It has great art and there is alway something really wonderful to view.

My favorite art gallery in DC, with the National Gallery and the Phillips running close behind. Lose yourself for hours in the faces and stories of people who once lived and are now gone. Even if you don't have the slightest interest in history, you will be captivated by the humanity held within this museum. I always leave feeling both proud and deeply humbled.

The National Portrait gallery is my second favorite museum in DC. The best part of this museum is it is enough off of the beaten path that there are typically no crowds. There is a wide range of art throughout the museum from many eras and countries. Additionally, be sure to check out the atrium in the middle. It is stunning!

That's whats I thought, when it was suggested as a place to visit. I ended up spending nearly 3 hours there and could easily have spent more time. The portraits of the presidents are amazing, as are the other exhibits which included a national portrait competition that provided some beautiful, poignant and moving examples of modern talent. In addition, the building is gorgeous. I am very glad I stopped by. You should put it on your list.
