Visit both locations... the one closest to Washington Dulles has the Space Shuttle Discovery. Both locations are great for families!

This one can be overwheliming, tons to see and do amognst the throngs. Spend some time at guest services and get some direction from them on what to see based on your interests. Attempting to see it all comprehensively in one visit would be difficult. Just plan to return for another visit ;)

I heard that this is the busiest museum in the world, and I don't have trouble believing it. The place is CRAWLING with swarms of people everywhere. Far too overstimulating for me -- but really fun for my kids.

My best suggestion is to pick a place to sit (fortunately, there seem to be plenty!) and let your kids explore that particular gallery. When they're ready to move on, move along with them.

Two HUGE tips: 1) Bring your own food. The wait and prices are insane here. 2) If you're really quiet, you might be able to find a socket to plug into and recharge your phone! That was definitely the highlight of *my* visit!

We all enjoyed going inside the different aircraft. Getting up close to the huge spacecraft was very cool. Our youngest enjoyed one of the flight simulators, big fun.

Took my nephew's 8 year old son there. His first visit. He was amazed! We spent almost the whole day. Lots of interactive things to do and explore.
