“a must see”
Reviewed April 2, 2013

Went with my husband and a 9 year old daughter. Probably the highlight of our entire stay in DC. Just really cool exhibits, something you can't find in NYC. Not to miss, and it's free.

“Be prepared to spend a lot of time here”
Reviewed April 2, 2013

We spent an entire day at each of the Air and Space facilities! You can literally get lost in the exhibits!

This is without a doubt the best Air and Space Museum in the country. We have spent a day in each facility and never left the places. Come early in the morning and start your journey under the Wright Flyer and continue to the Moon Landing and onward. You can walk through a jet plane cockpit, see a moon lander and just get lost in the great exhibits. If you have the time take in a few of their documentaries and programs! You will not be disappointed!

The Smithsonian has a fast food facility inside both the downtown and Udvar facility. If you are downtown you can find several local food places and if you take a short walk over to the Smithsonian American Indian Museum, they have a great place to eat there.

It is best to take the Metro to the downtown facility as parking can be hard to find and can be costly. If you take the Yellow line to the L'Enfant stop it is a short two block walk to the Museum!

If you go to the Udvar-Hazy facility at Dulles, the museum is free but you will have to pay for parking. They do have buses that come to the facility. The Silver Metro line is not complete at this time so you may want to drive yourself or take a taxi and/or bus to the museum. The Udvar facility has some great planes including the SST, the blackbird, and of course the Shuttle Discovery which is very cool to see. I was able to see Discovery arrive at the Museum last April and it was a neat experience. At Udvar there are some great documentaries, and you can also go up in their tower and watch the planes land at Dulles. Come early and be prepared to stay the day at both places.

We only spent a few hours here and will definitely need to revisit for an entire day. There is so much to see here, we can't wait to return.

“fun and impressive”
Reviewed April 2, 2013

Always a go-to place. You never get sick of seein these attractions. Kids love it, teenagers love it, adults love it.
Soon, it'll be too small for the amount of stuff and people there is in there. Don't miss the annex at Dulles airport, also impressive!
