This museum was number one on our list of 'must see' museums whilst visiting Washington D.C. and it did not disappoint. The sheer size and number of space and aircraft on display is phenomenal and on the day we visited it was packed.
Admission is free but donations are always appreciated.
It would be difficult to list individually what there is to see but some of the highlights are the Apollo 11 Module, the Spirit of St Louis, the Wright Flyer , Amelia Earhart's Vega and a piece of space rock.
There are also a number of simulators you can try (for a fee) and the at the IMAX theatre (charges apply), we saw Space Junk 3D which was very interesting.
The museum has a food court attached with McDonalds etc so you do not have far to go to feed the hungry hoardes.
Definitely a favourite with kids of all ages, make sure to add this one to your list.
