This was the highlight of our DC trip according to my 12 yr old son. It's easy to spend at least 2 - 3 hours (or more) inside. I've been 3 or 4 times myself and I love it. Fun and educational.

Loved the Skylab walk thru, space capsules, missiles, satellites, jets, balloons, everything. Staff was knowledgeable and polites. Very crowded, some guests from faraway places a little pushy. Possibly the smoothest running mcdonalds attached for a nice break.

Loved seeing Apollo space capsules and the Wright Flyer. Lots and lots to see. Save time for the special hands-on children's area. But don't eat here- McDonald's is the ONLY option. Yuck.

Ok, so it is a little outdated-- but it is FREE! What a wonderful experience for children and adults to view such science milestones. Apollo missions, Hubble telescope, missiles, aircrafts, space capsules.... There are a lot of OMG moments if you are nerds like us. It could use a little re-vamping, but I doubt the additional government funding will be coming anytime soon... Go with an open mind, enjoy these national treasures, touch a moon rock, and maybe slip a few dollars into the donation box :)
