The National Mall, Washington D.C. Is the name of the most amazing area in Washington D.C.
The rectangular area contain unbelievably large number of outdoor and indoor attractions. starting from the Wahington monument, Capitol building, several memorial monuments, parks, to museums like Air and Space, Natural History, and more than a dozen other museums.
I have never such a great collection of museums and memorials in one place!.
Since it is impossible to review everything here, I will just mention very general points about the National Mall, and leave reviews of the museums and monuments in their assigned places.
Starting with transportation to the National Mall which is available by tour buses, underground metro, and also private cars. I have not had any serious problem finding a parking space in the area, but sometimes I had to use indoor parking which was actually quite expensive.
Admission to all museums and monuments is surprisingly FREE of charge except probably the aquarium.
More than 20 museums and attractions in this area are part of the Simthsonian institution and are part of the institution's educational, cultural, and research efforts.
Museums in general are set up in a way to provide information to all visitors and specially to children in a very attractive way. Some museums and monuments need one to two hours, and others may need more than four or five hours and may be several visits.
When you decide to do your visits to the National Mall, choose a nice day because you may spend a lot of time outdoor. Also choose comfortable clothing and a hat if you visit in June, July, or August.
It is a fascinating area.. Enjoy it.

We spent a couple of days walking the National Mall. Too many things that we did not see this time, but we will be back! It's a definite must-see in your lifetime. Sadly, the White House was closed to visitors. We hope that it will be open again next time we'll go.

All the monuments and memorials are just amazing. I always, always, get chills when I am in Washington DC. Republican, Democrat, Liberal, Conservative...this is a part of our history and a learning experience for our children.

You have to come at least once in your lifetime if you love the United States. This place was projected and designed to admire the greatness of America and its heroes. Full of green areas, museums, monuments, memorials, etc...all in perfect harmony between nature and American history.

The National Mall is a huge open-area national park in downtown Washington, D.C, where you can visit the Lincoln Memorial, Second Wolrd War Memorial, The US Capitol, Martin Luther King jr. memorial a.s.o. It is a 60 acre park filled with history. Bikes are available for rent ( by day, hour) be avare of $100 deposit / bike, $$$ that you will get back in 5 days...( that is how long it took them to put back the warranty in my account) Segways are $70. Better have depends on because the porto-potties are far from wherever you are when you want to go. Parking not available unless you are very very lucky ( by the Potomac). HOT HOT HOT! No refreshments on site ( only at Lincoln memorial) I would not recommend it in the summer... Go there early May or late September. Have very comfy shoes! Have water with you. You need 3-4 days to see everything ( tons of very good museums, behind the White House). It is an amazing historic site! Eeverything seems to be close....but the walking distances are pretty long
