Everyone who visits will have seen all the places on the National Mall before on the television however, it is as always beeter to actually go there and see them for yourself. The Mall is well laid out with wide pavements and is enjoyable to stroll down and look and some magnificent buildings.

If you love history and/or architecture, the walk around the Mall is well worth it. My only complaint is (I went there during a hot summer week) that the few gift shops were not well air-conditioned and there were not enough clean and cool water fountains. Be prepared to rest and spend money on some Gatorade. Outside of the weather, I enjoyed everything else. Despite the crowds, most people were polite and you did not have to wait forever to get your pictures taken and to reach out and touch Lincoln. The trails throughout were kept clean and the kind of people there were clean as well. Due to the sheer size, you may want to make 2 or 3 trips to see all the memorials.

Rode Metro to and from with no problems... saw a great concert...many employees to assist and we really felt comfortable even thought this was a night concert! Thanks so much DC!

If I were to choose the top 3 cities in the US, as a tourist destination, DC definitely belongs to this list..Everything is just wonderful with this place, I can't even find the words to describe the richness that this city can offer, from its inspiring federal buildings, to its highly educational museums, beautiful parks, breathtaking historical landmarks, grand churches...Just amazing...And another great thing about this place, is that around 90% of these attractions are free....Hotels at nearby Virginia, close to Regan airport are relatively affordable, and the Metro train is really cheap and clean... Many of the attractions maybe free, but the memories, experiences, stories and pride you gain from the trip to this great city are priceless...
