So many museums and key government institutions all laid out. This is what Washington DC is all about. - can be hot in summer - so plan ahead.

Great place to walk around and all the must-see museums are lined up along the place. So its a must visit, and one cannot really avoid it.

However beware that there is almost no place to eat or have a meal in the area, unless the small coffee shops inside museum or one or two outside...

I pass by the Mall often while I board the Metro trains! I love to look over and feel a sense of awe in the sights of The Mall! The Mall has some stations close by so you can grab which station you need to go.

Lined with Smithsonian museums anchored at one end by the Capitol and the other by the Washington Monument...there's a Metro stop at the west end and you can see it all from here!

In many ways, the National Mall is Washington, DC. Most all the museums and historical sites that ring both sides of the Mall are free and fascinating for people of all ages and interests. Great art - modern, Asian, Native American, or old world. History - both natural and American. And science - from inventions to the amazing Air and Space Museum displays. You'll be busy for days. Pace yourself.
