Prior to walking into the museum, I thought it would be just another boring art museum. Fortunately, I was wrong. We planned to spend an afternoon strolling around the museum and came back the following day after we realized we did not allocate enough time to walk through this timeless treasure.

Separated by time periods, this gallery has something for everyone. If you're looking for inspiration, you've come to the right place. The romance of Renaissance artists to contemporary fine artists.

Carve out at least two days to explore this magnificent museum. The staff is wonderfully knowledgable, and love to share their insights and inspirations when asked. Also, many of the galleries have couches, for those looking to rest or absorb the masterpieces on display.

Truly a national treasure. I highly recommend visiting this museum.

We spent over three hours here, including two guided tours but didn't really see much that excited us. We thought there would be more epic works of art, though the medievil stuff was good.

One of the best museums I have ever been to. It's so sophisticated. I felt like I was in the Louvre Museum. Security guards did not really interfere us when we were looking at the paintings. Top 5 places to visit when in Washington DC.

We love this place. It’s an extraordinary collection in a very, very nice space. It’s also got an extraordinary amount of activities for all ages. Their art activities for children (and adults) are fabulous

I wasn’t expecting o be as impressed by the National Gallery’s exhibits, but they are on par with most of the top galleries in the world. The french impressionist section is as big as some, but the quality is outstanding, excellent selections of Pissarro , Renoir, Manet, Monet, etc.. i was actually a bit disappointed by not finding any Benson, Russell or Remingtons in the American section, but still, it’s a must see.
