How can you not love a free museum full of beautiful art in an amazing building? We've been back several times.

I visit the National Gallery every time I'm in DC. There's always something new to see. I've always been fascinated with their collection of paintings from well-known artists such as Renoir, Van Gogh, Manet, Monet, Degas, Cézanne, Poussin, Rubens, and so many more. It's not as expansive as the Louvre, but it doesn't have to be because the collection is so comprehensive (and it's free). Don't miss it if you love art. Many of these paintings are the ones you learn about in Art History classes. You'll be amazed at how many you'll recognize. You won't be disappointed.

I always try and go to the National Gallery when in DC. It has a top-notch, versatile collection. The café is always a treat, and the gift shops are among the best museum shops in the U.S.

This gallery was our favourite in DC. It holds so many masters it's amazing. My teenage girls were blown away as they had only studied these paintings from tiny book prints and internet sites. To actually be up close and personal was terrific. As a family we would highly recommend you visit this gallery. Da Vinci, Monet, Degas, Renoir, Turner, Constable and the list just goes on and on.
