This gallery was amazing. It had so much to see that we had to spend two days to see through all the galleries but it was worth every minute spent there.

HUGE collection of mankind’s treasures . Two levels but easily navigated . Just start at one end and travel to the other end and back again . The collection is presented in a conventional way but very effective . Lacks a good audio guide and floor maps could use more detail . Free , and that’s nice .

If you’re into fine art the National Gallery of Art is - alongside the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC and the National Gallery in London - one of the finest in the world. Therefore it is an absolute must see if ever you’re in DC.

Of course everyone’s taste in art is different, so there’s not much point talking about my favorite artists or pieces on display here (Turner, Monet, thank you very much!), just arrive with your eyes open and senses ready to be inspired.

A very pleasant aspect of the National Gallery of Art is that the nearby Air & Space and Natural History Museums draw the crowds so the Gallery of Art is crowd-free and peaceful.

This is not to be missed if you like art at all. There are examples from so many top artists. The impressionism gallery alone will leave you gaping.

No doubt, this is one of the best museums in the world. It has a rich collection of art starting with the Middle Ages until contemporary art. It's a huge museum, spread into two buildings. My recommendation is to start with asking for orientation at any of the information booths located at any of the entries. Some of the exhibitions have more information attached, but most of the exponates do not. The use of the wifi guides is not obvious, displaying or handing some notes would be useful. Large cafeteria in the underground level of the West building, more smaller places in the two buildings. No entry fees. Free wi-fi.
