The displays are gorgeous, I especially like the Rodin and Degas exhibits. They have a good selection and collection. In addition to the lovely things hanging in the museum, the museum itself is a thing of beauty. The floors and mouldings are gorgeous. Lunch in the cafe was delicious and well priced.

It's not bad at all, but nothing spectacular. It's an art gallery. What do you want?

“beautiful and free”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 4, 2012

Unlike museums in New York, National Gallery of Art is free. The museum (both wings) is beautiful. The collections are very, very impressive. The restaurants and cafe are also very good. Plan to spend at least 3 hours.

“National Gallery - do not miss the Miro exhibit!”

His earlier work was a total surprise. Beautiful in execution, whimsy and a joy to behold. See this before it leaves DC!

“Spectacular and Free”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 3, 2012

Just before heading to Washington DC in April my wife and I learned that the entrance into the Smithsonian museums in DC is free. I wish that all cultural institutions could offer the same acces. The works of art in this museum are stunning. The collection is massive and impressive. We spent a half a day in the National Gallery of Art and have much more left to see. This is a must see attreaction. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
