“A DC Must See”
Reviewed May 29, 2012

This is an amazing museum with some of the best works of art in the country. It's free to visit, so there's no excuse to miss it! The East building has a wonderful collection of contemporary work. The West building houses the more traditional stuff. All of it is great. Their cafe on the lower level is a good option for lunch too.

“Well worth the visit!”
Reviewed May 29, 2012

If you take your camera, be careful to make sure that the gallery you are in allows photos, before you shoot. We came in the exit and did not see the signs. Also note that some artwork is not tagged and what looks to be a wall-pappered wall is actually a canvas. Some things are not marked well.

“A National treasure”
Reviewed May 29, 2012

More than likely you need two days to see the wonderful exhibits here. Renaissance,Dutch masters and Impressionist galleries are standouts. The only public place to see a Da Vinci in the United States. The staff is very helpful in guiding you around (easy to get lost, its so big). A real joy!

“National Treasure”

This museum is AMAZING! No where in the world can you see such amazing art in gorgeous surroundings for FREE except in Washington, DC.
DO NOT MISS this museum. The older wing houses art through the 19th century and the newer wing designed by I.M. Pei houses modern art. On a recent visit we say the newly opened wing of French 19th Century Art and the Joan Miro show in the "new" wing. Both fabulous and priceless!!
