“Top notch museum”
Reviewed April 25, 2013

Do you know the connection between the Tishman collection of African art and the Walt Disney World Corporation? You'll find out at this museum. Wonderful collection which combines traditional tribal art with contemporary African artists. The breadth and depth of African art is breathtaking. The museum gift shops here and at the Sackler deserve a visit. This museum is a wonderful complement to Quai Branly in Paris.

“Worthwhile”
Reviewed April 13, 2013

Having not been exposed to much in the way of African Art I found this museum a more challenging visit. The art is definately wonderful but I did struggle a little with the layout and organization. However, the visit was totally worthwhile and will merit a return to gain a better understanding.

“(Relatively) new addition - a success!”
Reviewed April 12, 2013

Having been around the mall and Smithsonian my whole life, visiting the Museum of African Art was really very refreshing and inspiring. It delivered on its promise and widened my horizons towards the art and culture of the peoples of Africa. Good job! Very much worth a visit.

“LOVED THIS PLACE!”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

It looks small on the outside, but it is huge in the inside. It is located right near the Smithsonian Castle and the Smithsonian Metro. Beautiful artwork inside of a beautiful museum. There weren't a lot of people there so that made the visit very nice. It is so easy to get to from other attractions, so that makes this museum a must!
