Totally first class experience! We were surprised to find it to be free, very different from experience elsewhere... The many exhibits are interactive, thought-provoking, relevant and engaging - popular history explored in a very accessible way that will keep both children and adults occupied for hours.

NOT TO BE MISSED.. it closes the end of February. 2013. The multiple media and work with ancient materials into unexpected, sometimes whimsical forms were my favorite aspects..This man is extraordinary as an activist and as an artist who sees old things in new ways!

Take in every different one of the Smithsonian museums. And do not overlook the original. It may not contain the most noteworthy items, such as the aircraft, the hope diamond, or Jackie O's dress, but it still has plenty to offer.

The Natural History Museum and the American History Museum are the second most visited museums in the world. That should tell you something about the crowds. Go mid-winter and mid-week if possible. The cafeteria food is excellent considering the volume prepared.

Great exhibits which kept the kids interested. There is an interactive room which had some cool things like finding what your weight would be on Mars or the moon. Several IMAX movie options as well as simulator rides so there is something for everyone. We only had two hours and this was the perfect museum for it.
