We went on the Monuments at Night Tour with Heidi last night. We used our AAA when we booked online for a discount. We all enjoyed it, and felt a little sorry for all of the people we rode by. We caught breezes as we rode, and saw the Washington Monument, the WW11 Memorial, the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial (during a quick downpour, which made it feel even more meaningful and appropriate to me), the Lincoln Memorial (very very slippery when wet, saw two women fall come down the steps), the Korean Conflict Memorial, the MLK Memorial (loved the quotes and his facial expression), the FDR Memorial, and the Jefferson Memorial.
We would have NEVER covered this much ground on foot, nor held my my kid's attention (ages 7 and 10) for that long. Heidi gave us a short (2-4 minute) introduction to each site, and then let us go explore it for ourselves. That was perfect for us, and the novelty of riding a tandem bike made my 7 year old especially enjoy the trip. There were plenty of stops with water fountains and restrooms, and Heidi gave us a bottle of water at the beginning and snacks mid-way through.
The sites were really beautiful at night and by the end, it was cooler and really pleasant. We went to Fro-yo on 10th and G afterwards and thought it was the perfect end to the night.

Biking to the monuments around the Mall is a great way to cover a lot of ground in a relatively short period of time - the trip was three hours long. We enjoyed the cooler part of the day and seeing the last few monuments lit up as the sun set but would have preferred to stay a bit longer at each monument than the five to ten minutes allotted. Highlights included Washington, Lincoln, Jefferson, Viet Nam, and Korea. While it was nice to breeze through MLK, FDR, WWII, and Einstein, it made the whole trip very rushed, especially at the end, to get through everything. Our guide seemed a bit unseasoned, so perhaps another guide might time the trip better.

We've been on a number of bike tours in various cities around the world and always enjoy the excursion. This trip was fine, but unfortunately, I can't include this tour on our list of favorites because it tries to do too much.

We did the Bike and Roll to tour the monuments this past week. The experience was wonderful and a great way to visit all of the sites without the extra walking. Our tour guide was great and had lots of great information for us!! We just got home from our trip yesterday and my daughter asked when we were going to do the bike tour again!!! This was a highlight of our trip and fun for our whole family!! Thanks so much!!

I have been to DC several times and always enjoy strolling the mall and monuments, but biking the mall was the best! I saw everything on the mall and beyond in a short amount of time and saved my feet all that walking. It did help that I was an avid bike rider - as many tourists don't pay attention to bells or shouts and it can be quite irritating to navigate if your doubtful of your riding experience. Look for a $5 coupon in the tourist brochures.

Well worth the price! The night portion was an additional plus to an already worthy experience for the entire family!
