Description: Bobby Van’s Grill marks the return of the powerful New York City chop shop to the downtown D.C. area but with a new twist. This eclectic New American Steakhouse now boasts a slightly more casual family friendly atmosphere as well as catering to the Washington politician. This 536-seat D.C. destination is fully loaded! There’s four private, intimate and upscale dining rooms with their own bar and bar services. Two 40-foot long bars can be found with friendly bartenders serving strong drinks and even stronger conversations. The main dining room boasts views of both New York Avenue and the plush marble atrium of the adjoining building amidst its beautiful water fountain. This is an ideal place to meet for power lunches, family gatherings and late night dinners in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

I dined alone at Booby Van's, had a great table with a view of the sidewalk traffic. The server did an excellent job of describing the menu, the beers and wine selections. The food items were very good to excellent(the entree of Sea Bass). The service left nothing to be desired. Definitely will return. This was not my first visit and I can say that the steaks are outstanding. But then again the seafood held up to expectations.

There are two Bobby Van's near each other; we went to the one on New York Ave. On Friday and Saturday nights, they have a $40 special where you can get appetizer, a small selection and entrees and dessert. Both my 14 year old grandson and I took advantage of that. He ordered a steak which he said was delicious. I had a seafood pasta dish which also was excellent. I would have preferred to be able to see the 1/2 pound lobster that was supposed to be in there. It was chopped so fine, I couldn't tell it was there. Service was very attentive. I would go back.

We had a big business dinner here. The food was fantastic- from appetizers to steak and side dishes. Service was immaculate.
Great chioce of wine.
But it was very expensive.
Overall, very nice dinner experience.

We were attending the AAPA conference and were looking for a place near out hotel on 12th St NW and we hear about Bobby Van's. We checked it out on Trip Advisor and attempted to understand what the difference might be at the two Bobby Van's in D.C. We picked a winner when we dined at location at 12th & New York Ave. We made reservations using Trip Advisor. Upon arriving we were most pleasantly welcomed and then seated at a comfortable table. We were waited on promptly and received lots of good info from the waiter. The menu was a fabulous variety of beef, lamb, veal and seafood. Mrs. had the filet mignon with a scrumptious crab cake that was mostly crab and minimal breading. Mr. also enjoyed a crab cake flanked by a ribeye that was about the biggest ever. Both of our steaks were cooked perfectly and so tender we barely need a steak knife. Juicy, THICK and bounding with flavor was what we enjoyed.
Do not overlook one of the best side dishes ever. Try the crab macaroni and cheese. We could not stop commenting on how delicious each bite was. This is something we must have again!
The wine selections are superb. We decided to try the house Cabernet Sauvignon and we were not the least bit disappointed.
The portions here are very generous, and the tastes all incredible. With the tip our dinner was $190 for two. We believe we had the best dinner that can be had in D.C. Don't miss it!

but seriously, who'd want to SHARE??!! We actually dined at Bobby Van's Grill in DC. Our female wait person was one of the original employees. She really made our evening. ALL of her menu suggestions were spot-on. And the french fries, which she specifically didnt' recommend, merited her caution.
Now that we've lost Sam & Harry's steak house, Bobby Van's is THE steak house in DC.
