“Are You A Little Boy?”
Reviewed October 14, 2013

If you are a little boy that is infatuated with heavy equipment, by all means RUSH to see it. They are digging, spreading, moving, constructing all over D.C. in general and the area of the tidal basin and mall in specific. There are Jersey barriers and orange fencing and silt guard and scaffolds every direction that one looks.

If, on the other hand, you are looking for aesthetic vistas you should wait for that Magical Year of 2015. That is the time that EVERY project in D.C. claims they will be
COMPLETED".

“Great during the cherry blossom festival.”
Reviewed October 14, 2013

Its a great place to go for a walk, be careful walking to close to the edge of the sidewalk-walking area you can easily fall into the water!! If you are a photo taker, you will have many picture perfect option, the Jefferson memorial , MLK memorial , Washington Monument, they all can be seen from some specific point in the basin and with the nature surrounding the tidal basin pictures and a walk are a must to do.

“Lovely Even Without Cherry Blossoms”
Reviewed October 14, 2013

Of course the classic time to see the Tidal Basin is during the cherry tree blossoming. But if you want to see it without the huge crowds, come a bit earlier or later, or in the fall. It is a lovely walk, and combines with the Jefferson Memorial.

“Cherry Blossom heaven”
Reviewed October 10, 2013

I went to the Cherry Blossom Festival and took beautiful photos of the cherry blossoms. There is also the Jefferson Memorial and the WW1 Memorial at the Tidal Basin. I have also rented a paddle boat and paddled all around the Tidal Basin.

“Cherry Blossom time”
Reviewed October 10, 2013

This area is well known, because of the Cherry Blossom festival in the Spring, that can bring in a few million people during a two week period. The Japanese many years ago made a gift of these trees to the US. If you really want to see a beautiful sight, celebrate Spring and come to this festival, that has many events planned around this celebration. Do not drive or try to find parking during this time, take the Metro, you will be glad you did.
